Zoe's Garden
As I write this at the beginning of November, I can't help being glad that some people leave their Halloween decorations up longer than others.
Pumpkin decorated paper lanterns litter the ground, a fountain trickles in the distance, gold and orange foliage reaches out to grasp at unwary bystanders. A cemetery looms out of the darkness lined with twisted oaks and willows and housing a sinister tower with ethereal spirits in residence. Inside the store, more spooks and specters roam, taking the unwary by surprise, appearing and disappearing at random, out of the corner of your eye.
It is fair to say that Adele Rhiadra, owner and creator of Zoe's Garden, is a fan of Halloween. One section of her store is given over to her collection of themed decorations and gadgets, with black, withered sticks and plants on offer, as well as ghosts and creepy spiders and things that go bump in the yard!
Beside this seasonal fun is a store bursting with life: bare plank shelving lines each wall of the store and each shelf is well stocked with exquisitely detailed little pot plants, from topiary bushes to sweet peonies, from lilies to carnations and roses.
The nurture of these plants has not been ignored. Also on sale are a range of greenhouses, hothouses and decorative sheds, as well as numerous pieces of original artwork.
The prices are more than reasonable, with most of the items in the store available for well under the L$50 mark.
This is a pretty and impressive destination for residents who have a house or a garden to decorate and who want to bring a splash of colour and life into their virtual world.
