The Matilda Bar - Fair Dinkum Aussie Pub is a wonderful location to spend time enjoying a variety of things that Second Life has to offer.
The pub has a good layout and designed in a way that imitates a real pub, with distinct sections enabling people to choose the experience that they wish to have. Like many pubs it also has both inside and outdoor elements.
Inside the pub has four areas, that while different, flow into each other in an non-obtrusive fashion. There is a bar area with novelty seating (large scale drink cans) around it. Opposite the bar at one end is a seating area for those who just want to chill and relax. Next to the bar on the other side is a dance floor with both a DJ booth and a stage for live or disco music. Through the dancefloor to the other end of the pub is another seating area, but this time there is also a pool table and a poker table. There are two open fires, one in each of the seating areas and the posters on the walls are all of recognisable Australian landmarks or activities. There are a number of animations, along with the dance animations to help create the pub atmosphere.
The pub has two outdoor areas, the first small area is at the front of the pub where good use has been made of the pavement, with tables and chairs put out for those wishing to sit outside in a way that happens in real life. Through the back of the pub is a big beer garden with a number of fun games that you can take part in with high scores to beat. There is a useful board telling you want music events are taking place and opposite that is an enormous TV screen for viewing purposes. There is also seating for those who want to chill and relax, or watch the TV provided.
The Matilda Pub is a very faithful Second Life representation of pubs in real life and a lot of thought has gone into ensuring that there is lots to entertain it's visitors. It is certainly worth a visit.
