The Matilda Bar
second life business card

The Matilda Bar is as close to a real Aussie Pub as you will find. The building is in tradional aussie style and the decor will ensure you feel you drinking your tinnie in any local aussie pub.
We have regular djs and live music as well as great fun activities to keep you laughing.
there is also a large screen playing movies and aussie music.
Connor does a regular Friday 8pm dj event where he plays only homegrown aussie tunes and the theme is everything Austrlalian.
If you walk around the site you will find natural Australia fauna and wildlife such as Kangaroos, Koalas, gum trees and even some Aussie Rules football. Be careful near the waterhold its full of crocs!
There is also some cheap rentals available above the pub!
so if you have ever wanted to visit The Land Down Under and never had the chance, please do pop into Matilda's, its a fair dinkum Aussie pub!

by Kay Holmeforth

Typical Aussie bars are raucous places. The beer flows freely, the music plays loud, sport plays even louder on the big screen.

Standing virtually alone on a sparsely populated sim, the Matilda Bar can't help but stand out. This is a typical British rendition of the Aussie Sports Bar, as can be seen from the prerequisite colonial flags adorning the street front and the iconic red phone box beside the entrance. I have the honour to come from a British city which boasts one of these wonderful places and I can verify that this really is a faithful recreation - from the flagstone floor, to the karaoke stage, to the low wooden bar, lined with stools heavily branded with beer labels - it all feels very familiar.

Out-back (see what I did there?) there is a large seating area, wallabies bouncing around and the largest TV screen I have ever seen!

Inside, there is a fair selection of amusements to be had, from the aforementioned karaoke stage, amusingly loaded with a very apt drunken singing animation, to various team and club games and a rocking DJ booth and dance floor. With an upbeat, loud soundtrack of chart favourites, a night out at The Matilda Bar is a memorable experience indeed.

It was very unfortunate that the bar was empty at the time of this visit. Aussie bars are typically very friendly, jovial places where one can let their hair down and wind down from a stressful week with you team colours displayed proudly across your chest and a frothing, "proper" pint in your hand. Undoubtedly, this is something The Matilda Bar should excel at. I look forward to returning on a busier evening.
