The first thing you notice ...

by hellfirehound Resident

The first thing you notice when you arrive at Virtual Holland is that it resembles a small fishing village. Large cogs spin in the sky and in the middle distance, there's a windmill lazily turning its way through the day.

The Southern area of the island is a mixture of oriental and contemporary. The mood and theme seems to change every few steps. There is a Tai Chi and relaxation area for those quiet moments of contemplation, as well as a hidden garden, complete with seating area and hookah pipes for sharing quiet times with friends.

However, the best thing about Virtual Holland is that there are not an abundance of shops forcing products down your throat every few yards. There are shops in Virtual Holland, but they are confined to the shopping area and are well spaced out. Each shop has the style and essence of The Netherlands, or at least, how one would imagine they would be. Even the largest clothing store, B&D fashion, was not over stated and well designed, in keeping with the rest of the shops and houses nearby.

Virtual Holland seems to be a place where you can just be yourself, away from the vampires and sex freaks. When I arrived, there were a few people there, just relaxing and chatting to each other. The mixture of oriental and Dutch design makes this island truly unique. Everywhere is designed brilliantly, from the spider running around the town square to the oriental gardens and Sam's Gallery. Nothing is forced in your face. In true Dutch style, everything is relaxed and carefree.
